SIZAMAKONKE CRECHE AND PRESCHOOL "EDUCATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS" - Tata Mandela

THE SIZAMAKONKE CRECHE AND PRESCHOOL STORY

Sizamakonke creche and pre school is registered with the Department of Social development with registration number 205 178 and it has a section 18A certificate with SARS number 9168990233, PBO number 930063302 and DSD registration number 10/1/8/2/1384-DR

The Sizamakonke Creche and Preschool is situated in Mhlasini area 2, Redcliffe area in the informal settlement of Verulam close to the Mhlasini River. Sizamakonke Creche and Preschool was established in March 2018 after consulting community structures.

Prior to opening the Centre, Sizamakonke Management conducted research after noticing a number of children aged 3 - 5 years loitering about the streets during school hours. These children did not have a place to go while their parents are working, so Sizamakonke Management decided that opening such an institution in the area would provide a safe place for these children to play and learn while their parents worked.

The area also has a very high unemployment rate, due to the fact that there are not many businesses in the area. The Sizamakonke project is, therefore, also about creating job opportunity in the community and helping those children in the area from disadvantaged backgrounds and the disabled.

“It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.” ~ Albert Einstein
